PLA, PAP select preliminary nominees of candidates to 20th CPC national congress

BEIJING, May 31 -- According to the decisions by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Central Military Commission and President Xi Jinping, the preliminary nominees of the military candidates to attend the upcoming 20th CPC National Congress have been produced from 25 electoral units of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and People’s Armed Police (PAP) Force.

The preliminary nominees consist of Party members as leading cadres and Party members serving in grassroots units, accounting for 59.12% and 40.88% respectively. Of all the preliminary nominees, 69.06% are under the age of 55, and 95.3% of them are owners of third-class merit citations or higher citations. The total number of the preliminary nominees includes a certain number of female Party members, ethnic minority Party members, and Party members who are civilian personnel, professional and technical staff, non-commissioned military or police officers.
