China issues report on U.S. human rights violations

BEIJING, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's State Council Information Office on Monday issued the Report on Human Rights Violations in the United States in 2021. The report said the human rights situation in the United States, which has notorious records, worsened in 2021. Its political manipulation led to a sharp surge in COVID-19 deaths while shooting deaths in the country hit a new record. Fake democracy trampled on people's political rights and violent law enforcement made life harder for migrants and refugees in the United States, it said. The report also highlighted the country's growing discrimination against ethnic minority groups, especially people of Asian descent. Chinese peacekeepers to Mali rebuild air defense bunkers for Togolese police camp

BEIJING, Feb. 28 -- Recently, the Menaka detachment of the 9th batch of Chinese peacekeeping engineering contingent to Mali completed the task of rebuilding the air defense bunker in the Togolese police camp. It is learnt that, some of the old air defense bunkers in the camp were severely damaged and had basically lost the defense functions. 114th Mekong River joint patrol completed

KUNMING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The 114th joint Mekong River patrol by China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand concluded on Friday, with three Chinese law enforcement vessels returning to a port in southwest China's Yunnan Province. Five vessels of the four countries, with 80 law enforcement officers on board, sailed over 600 kilometers for four days and three nights, according to the Yunnan provincial public security department. The joint patrol targetted illegal border crossing, drugs, internet frauds and other cross-border crimes along the river. Chinese lawmakers deliberate draft decision on ranks for active-duty soldiers

BEIJING, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese lawmakers on Sunday began discussing a draft decision on the ranks for active-duty soldiers of the People's Liberation Army. The draft was submitted to an ongoing session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, for review. The ranks of soldiers consist of several ranks for non-commissioned officers and those for conscripts, said the draft. China's new-generation rocket sends 22 satellites into space in record-setting mission

The rocket blasted off at 11:06 a.m. (Beijing Time) at the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in the southern Hainan Province before sending the satellites into preset orbit. These satellites will then be released in 12 groups. They will be mainly used for commercial remote sensing services, marine environment monitoring, forest fire prevention and disaster mitigation. The mission marked the 409th flight of the Long March carrier rockets. Chinese military slams US warship transit through Taiwan Strait

BEIJING, Feb. 26 -- "The US guided-missile destroyer USS Ralph Johnson (DDG-114) sailed through the Taiwan Strait on February 26 and hyped it up. PLA develops new emergency cold-proof equipment for plateau troops

The snow-covered plateau features low temperature and hypoxia all year round, which puts higher requirements for equipment operation.
